10 Fat Burners Side Effects (And How to Deal with Them!)

The fat burners side effects you may experience with any weight loss product can arise from the ingredients listed on the label, as well as ingredients not listed on the label and I’ll explain what I mean by that in a minute.

Let’s discuss the ingredients listed on the label first.

Obviously, side effects are going to vary from product to product depending what’s in it, but 99 times out of 100, most of the side effects people experience are directly related to the high level of caffeine these products contain – or the combination of multiple different stimulants either on their own or in combination with certain other ingredients

So what are the common side affects you can expect?

10 Common Fat Burners Side Effects

The standard ones are…

  1. difficulty sleeping
  2. Restlessness
  3. Anxiety
  4. Difficulty focusing
  5. Withdrawl headaches (after finishing the product)
  6. Irregular heartbeat
  7. Nervousness
  8. Irritability
  9. Elevated blood pressure
  10. Breathlessness

… and so on.

What Do You Do about Fat Burners Side Effects?

Your actions should be reflective of the severity of the symptoms. If you find that you’re having difficulty sleeping at night, for example, you might want to reduce the size of your last dose, or take it earlier in the day.

If you find yourself anxious and distracted, you’ll want to reduce your dose or stop taking the product altogether.

If you’re having difficulty breathing and you have an irregular heartbeat, stop taking the product immediately and consider checking with health professional.

You will also want to file an adverse event report which essentially notifies government regulatory agencies of your experience so that they can look into it. It’s important that you do this, as it will increase the likelihood that dangerous or possibly contaminated fat burners are pulled off the market as quickly as possible.

Where to File an Adverse Event Report

Most countries will have agencies that monitor fat burners side effects (as qwell as those caused by other supplements). I’ve included links to U.S. and Canadian resources here. If you’re elsewhere in the world, try using Google to do a search for “weight loss supplement adverse event report” or something similar.

US: Report your event here: http://www.fda.gov/Food/DietarySupplements/ReportAdverseEvent/ucm111110.htm

Canada: Report your event here: http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/ahc-asc/media/advisories-avis/reaction-eng.php

Contaminated Supplements

OK, earlier in this video I said that you can also experience side effects from ingredients not listed on the label.

This doesn’t sound like it makes any sense, does it? So what do I mean?

Well, researchers have found that supplements – especially in the weight loss, body building and sexual enhancement niches – account for around 50% of all the major drug recalls in the U.S.
In other words, it’s not uncommon for such products to be contaminated with prescription drugs that may cause side effects or interactions with other drugs or supplements you may be taking.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission – which is the government agency that polices the supplement industry in the US – reports that people have suffered strokes, acute liver injury, kidney failure, and pulmonary embolisms (artery blockage in the lung) and even death as a result.

Obviously, if you have serious side effect, you need to seek medical attention, file an adverse event report and stop taking the product.

How To Protect Yourself from Contaminated Supplements?

Other than that, how can you possibly protect yourself from ingredients that may or may not be in your product?

Well, you can take certain steps.

My #1 recommendation is never buy unbranded products or products sourced directly from China and sold on the Internet.

What’s unbranded product?

Normally, it’s a product only sold only the Internet by an unknown person or company.

As I discuss in a recent article called 7 Frightening Facts about Fat Burners (I’ll provide a link below), just about anybody can sell supplements online and make it appear like they are coming from a large reputable company.

In reality, all you need is an inkjet printer a capsule filling device and some bulk powder sourced directly from China and you’re in business.

Instead, I recommend you buy products from reputable, well known brands only – this doesn’t guarantee the products won’t be contaminated, but big brands usually have a much better handle on their supply chain and know where the raw materials in their products actually come from.

So this is your much better option.
