EPH200 Fat Burner Review From Tom Lee Health — Does EPH200 Work?

A lot of you have been asking me about the EPH200 fat burner from Tom Lee Health. So I decided to have a look. Unfortunately, my “B.S.” detector was sounding at full volume within 5 seconds of my visiting the EPH200 web site. If you haven’t seen it for yourself, here’s the initial spiel…

“You have nothing special to do. There are no medications to take and you don’t have to deprive yourself of your favorite foods. Just follow the instructions and take a few capsules of EPH200 each day to lose up to a pound of fat every 24 hours.”

Unfortunately, it is physiologically impossible to lose a pound of fat every 24 hours. Not even prescription diet pills work anywhere near as well as this. You have to remember that fat is simply stored energy — and a pound of fat represents in excess of 3500 calories.

The body does not “miraculously” divest itself of stored energy — the only way you lose those fat stores is to burn them as fuel. And 3500 calories is a lot of energy. To give you an idea of how much, you burn approximately 600 calories per hour doing easy-moderate exercise on the treadmill. So a pound of fat represents almost 6 hours of exercise on the treadmill.

In other words, there is absolutely no scientific basis for this claim, and I’d be very surprised if the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) isn’t breathing down the neck of Tom Lee Health very soon. One of the mandates of the FTC is to target companies using false and unsubstantiated claims to sell products — and suggesting that no changes be made to your eating habits in order to lose weight is certainly one.

But what about the miraculous formulation?

Well, first of all, although a list of ingredients is provided (it’s not particularly unique) we aren’t told how much of each ingredient is included in the formulation, so it’s impossible to assess the efficacy of this product (I hate when retailer/manufacturers do this!). Even the best ingredients will provide little in the way of benefits if included in only minimal amounts. So what’s in EPH200? The main fat burner ingredients include…

  • Calcium: increasing calcium consumption seems to be effective for weight loss for those individuals following a low calorie diet. However, studies showed 1,000 mg/day from dairy products (especially yogurt) is the most effective.
  • Chromium: in the correct dosage, chromium is a useful insulin moderator, helpful for balancing blood sugar levels.
  • Citrus aurantium: While a few smaller studies have shown promising results, the jury is still out on the effectiveness of citrus aurantium for weight loss. For the most part, it’s effects are invalidated and extremely hyped (for a very detailed article from HerbalGram.org on this ingredient, click here!).
  • Green Tea: showing great potential as a fat burner, a full review of green tea is available here!
  • South African Hoodia gordonii: one of the most hyped weight loss products on the Net, with little evidence of its effectiveness. If you’re interested, you can read the full review here!
  • Garcinia Cambogia: standardized for HCA, or hydroxycitric acid. Early animal studies seemed to indicate that HCA/Citrimax displayed an amazing ability to block the conversion of carbohydrates into fat by inhibiting an enzyme called ATP-Citrate Lyase. It also appeared to suppress appetite as well. Since then, several studies seem to indicate that hydroxycitric acid has no positive effects, and no value as a weight loss and dieting aid. Please see the full review for more details.
  • Gymnema Sylvestre: In the correct dosage, preliminary evidence seems to indicate this ingredient may affect blood glucose levels by reducing its absorption in the intestines. More evidence is needed to properly rate the effectiveness of this ingredient as a potent fat burner.
  • Guarana: a natural source of caffeine, a mild thermogenic.
  • Yerba Mate: also a natural source of caffeine. One study, (J Hum Nutr Diet 2001;14:243-50) indicated the combination of yerba mate, guarana and damiana delayed gastric emptying, and improved satiety (a feeling of fullness) in dieters. Unfortunately, damiana is absent from this formula.
  • White Willow Bark: a natural source of salicin (an anti-inflammatory). In the old days, white willow bark would be used as a natural alternative to aspirin in fat burners based on the ephedra/caffeine/aspirin stack. Now, it provides little benefit in a fat burner.

What’s the bottom line on this product?

Well, it does contain a few promising ingredients, and more than a few “not so promising” ingredients. But because we aren’t told how much of each ingredient is included in the formula, and because the EPH200 product claims are ridiculous and completely unfounded (there isn’t a shred of clinical evidence that verifies the claims), this product gets a big “thumbs down” from me.

  1. I have used eph200 and it worked for me. I was 275lbs and then got down to 250. When I quit taking it I only gained 7 to 9 lbs back in a year. I’m going to try it again.

  2. I used eph200 for 6 months and it really helped to jump start my weight loss. It gave me more energy, made me crave water, and decreased my appetite.

On the other hand after I lost 25 lbs I didn’t really get much more out of it. I think with a healthy diet and exercise this product is effective. So far I’ve lost 50 lbs and still going strong.

  3. I bought eph200 and it did not work. They didn’t even give me my money back when I returned it. They scammed me and they will do it to you to! I give it a big thumbs down!

  4. I have used EPH200 and did see a little bit of loss.

I had a friend interested so I tried to order one of the package options that are on the reorder booklet that came with my original order — you get one bottle for $29 one for $5 and one for free. There were 3 different amounts up to 10 bottles for $102.

I tried calling to order and I couldn’t get anyone who could speak English and the one guy I found that could said he had never heard of these options and he couldn’t take my order.

I was told to try the website and when I went to the web site that is on the reorder booklet and it was of course incorrect.

I was told when I placed my first order that I would receive a discount on my next order if I was to continue using eph200. It’s a lie! They tried to charge me $75 for 3 bottles again and did it twice in the same day!

They claim to have no knowledge of this booklet I received.

  5. The EPH200 product has helped me make slow and steady advances toward my goals. I started at 150 and am now down to 130.

I had a very pleasant and unexpected benefit. My alergies were greatly relieved and my hot flashes stopped when I was taking it (came back if I ran out).

My only complaint is that they are so slow to deliver – up to 6 weeks. I am currently waiting for my next order that was supposed to be here by Jan 30 – now it is over two weeks late.

  6. I have been through tons of diet pills. But this is the only one I gained weight on.

I am not a big eater, and have excess baby weight for 3 years now. I wasn’t hungry on it, but i gained 4 pounds in a month. So I am not taking it anymore.

  7. I ordered $75.00 worth over the phone and when I called to check on it a few days later and they said they never got the order.

So I re-ordered and I still haven’t gotten it yet and it’s 2 weeks late. I tried calling the number 1-800-697-3595 and it’s not a working number anymore.

The websites don’t work and I was wondering if anyone else has been able to get a hold of them because I want my money back.

  8. I bought a bunch (I think it was 6 bottles “package deal”) of EPH200 on eBay. This was approximately one year ago.

Both my husband and I have used the product but we have not dropped any weight. We did however experience a bit more energy but it was not nearly as significant as with the conventional ECA stack.

Overall: EPH200 was “nice” but not worth the money spent.

  9. i think eph200 is the best diet pill I’ve ever tried. I lost 11 pounds in two weeks and I had so much energy. People have to realize that different diet pills work differently on people so don’t down grade it because it didn’t work for you.

Keep trying and it might help if you change the food you eat but don’t give up — I didn’t and I love Eph200.

  10. I bought and used this product a year ago. I lost weight right away. I started at 145 and was down to 110 in about 3 weeks. I ate what I wanted and didn’t work out much except for my daily dog walks. I think it just has to work for the right person. I feel great and more energized.

  11. I took EPH 200 about a year and a half ago and it worked wonders. After the 3 days I weighed myself and I lost 2lbs.

I combined it with going 2 the gym and drinking tons of water.

Its been a while since I took them and I weigh 189 lbs. so I just started on them again. I’ll post again soon to let you guys know if I have experienced any more success.

  12. I have tried this product before it is an extremely wonderful product — it worked in every way it said it would.

In my case i didn’t have to join a gym or exercise because I was on my feet all day walking around at work, but what I did do was drink a lot of water and changed my eating habits. It worked GREAT!

Right now I am trying to re-order the product for my sister, but I can’t find the information to re-order so if any one reads this and has the number or the re-order web-site please, please, please send it to me at my email address!

    Thank You! ([email protected])

  14. I’ve used this product, and I can say only positive things about it. It helped to curb my appetite, which is most important to me. With diet and exercise, I was able to lose 30 lbs!

Now I would like to buy a bottle of eph200, but the website is no longer available. How can I get this again? This is the only product I’ve used that worked for me.

  15. I bought this “product” right before deploying to Iraq. It did nothing for me!

When I returned it for a refund I did not receive it, and got charged for another bottle. I have no idea were these people are at now.

This item sucks and I would NEVER recommend it!

  16. I have used eph200 and it worked for me. While working out and taking the eph200 3 times a day, I lost 35lbs in 3 weeks.

  17. I bought this product and I loved it! I can’t really prove that this product works because I think diet and exercise is all mind over matter! As soon as I started taking it I seemed to workout more often and eat better. I lost the weight from the diet and exercising but I don’t know if it was the eph200 that gave me the motivation and bump started me or if it was just the fact that I started to diet and exercise!

Regardless it worked, and I would definitely recommend trying it!

Editor’s comments: Brittany, many fat burners contain caffeine and other stimulants that can indeed give you the added boost you need to get to the gym regularly.

  18. Alright, so I do not have a lot of weight to lose, maybe 15 pounds. I tried EPH 200 about 2 years ago and I loved it. I did not see the crazy amounts of energy it promised but I lost 30 pounds. And it started to come off in the first day. I want to find more!

  19. I used eph200 after I had gained a lot of weight and I must say that it did very well for me… It sucks to hear from people that say it didn’t work at all. It did work wonders for me. Of course I walked at least 4 to 5 times a week and I drank nothing but water. I did eat unhealthy here and there. I was weighing 198 pounds and went down to 140 pounds within 3 to 4 months. I loved it!

  20. I used this product a couple of years ago, it was awesome. I lost weight immediately and kept it off. When I went to order more (because I loved the energy it gave me) I was told they could not send to Canada anymore. I was really disappointed.

  22. Back in 2006 I ordered EPH 200 over the phone. I got it in a week or two. I weighed 187 a size (13). After taking them everyday I noticed having more room in my pants. I could never see it but people did notice – it took three months for me to become a size 6. I felt great. I had energy and I would eat breakfast lunch and dinner.

In 2008 I had gained back everything I had lost and since eph200 had worked I decided to order again. I got the pills almost a month later. I tried it for 2 months and didn’t feel or see the results like I did when I first used eph 200.

Did someone change the diet ingredients????
