What’s Luck Got To Do With It?

One of my jobs here at UltimateFatBurner.com is to moderate visitors’ comments over at our sister site, Real-Customer-Comments.com.

Here, everyday folks share their experiences (positive and negative both) with many popular weight loss and body building supplements with our visitors.

For the most part, it’s pretty straight-forward stuff. Occasionally though, I’ll spot a trend that perplexes the heck out of me. Case in point…

I get a LOT of people writing in at the beginning of a cycle of a new weight loss product, often expressing the hope that they’ve finally found “the product that really works”, and invariably ending with…

“Wish me luck.”

Now perhaps I don’t get out enough, but every time I see “wish me luck” I shake my head in despair.

Why?

Because if you are relying on “luck” to obtain the weight loss goals you want, you’re in very serious trouble indeed. Luck, my friends, has absolutely nothing to do with it.

For one, our reviews make it clear that although there are many products that do help in the battle of the bulge, for the most part the effects of said products are subtle; there really is no magic pill.

So you’re not going to get “lucky” in that you are going to stumble upon a product that turns you into a super model without any effort.

Second, except in cases where an underlying medical condition may be the cause of your problems, losing weight is pretty straight forward business. It’s elementary math, really—no luck required or needed, thank you very much.

Here’s the process…

Determine how many calories you require in a day (you do this by first determining your BMR (or basal metabolic rate) and then using the Harris Benedict Equation to modify this number to give you an absolute total caloric limit).

Determine how many calories you are currently eating in a day.

Modify your diet and / or exercise program to ensure you are maintaining a SLIGHT caloric deficit every day (remember; dramatic caloric deficits are unsustainable, and will cause your metabolism to slow. I’d recommend no more than a 500 calorie deficit per day. This will provide slow, sustainable weight loss).

Simple, right?

While eating right and exercising can sometimes be a chore, you can’t argue that the mechanics of weight loss are anything but straight forward.

In other words, the simple process I’ve just outlined constitutes the most basic weight loss plan. And, as the old adage goes…

if you fail to plan, plan to fail.

Luck is not going to help you consume an ideal number of calories or make intelligent eating choices, nor is it going to build lean muscle mass or elevate your metabolism.

Luck has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Planning and hard work, on the other hand, do.

Bottom line?

If you’re relying on luck to be the mitigating factor in your weight loss program, you’re in big, big trouble.

Time to make a change. Time for a plan.

  1. I agree with everything you said. The problem is in reality people “are” looking for that “magic pill” to make them loose weight.

The idea of planning a diet and exercise program dosen’t appeal to most people. Taking a pill and doing nothing, that fits into most peoples plan. Quick and easy.

As life has taught me, you need to plan and work hard to get results. I’m sorry to say most people don’t like that idea.

I agree,”time for a change. time for a plan” I hope you find a way to convince people to do it
