You Don’t Tug on Superman’s Cape…

You don’t spit into the wind,
You don’t pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger
And you don’t mess around with Jim.

Jim Croce

In this case, “Jim” = Judge Robert Gettleman.  And he’s none too happy with our good buddy, infomercial scam artiste and all-around shyster Kevin Trudeau. Why?

Chicago Breaking News Center Has the details…

An angry Gettleman had called Trudeau before him after his e-mail was inundated when Trudeau asked followers to contact the judge

Gettleman said he continued to get e-mail from Trudeau followers even during the contempt hearing. “They’re in a sense attacking me as I’m sitting here,” the judge said.

Trudeau has been the subject of a civil lawsuit before Gettleman brought by the Federal Trade Commission. He did not address the judge during today’s hearing.

Trudeau’s lawyer told Gettleman that Trudeau’s e-mail subscribers have been warned to stop e-mailing the judge. The attorney, Kimball Anderson, pointed out that a new posting by Trudeau on his Web site characterizes the request for his followers to e-mail the judge as “a mistake.”

During an earlier hearing today, Gettleman said he had no doubt Trudeau was trying to “harass the court and interfere with my processes.” The e-mails will spur the U.S. marshals to look at whether the action represented a threat to the judge.

LOL!  Characterizing it as a “mistake” is the understatement of the year. You do NOT mess with U.S. District Court judges. You do NOT send your winged monkeys to harass them with threatening and/or unhinged e-mails. I can’t think of too many stunts dumber than this one.

Here’s the news vid:

I hope the judge throws the book at this jerk.  He’s earned it, many times over.

  2. It’s about time someone took care of this guy. He is a huge ripoff. As discussed before, all the “products” he pushes are a ripoff.

I hope he gets what he deserves and we don’t have to hear from him again.

  3. Now we can add to “bonehead” to his description as well. Lovely.

  4. Well, the man doesn’t lack for cojones, that’s for sure. But I guess it goes to show you, you don’t actually have to be smart to be a good con artist… just smarter than your marks.

What sad is that he actually has “followers” who would e-mail the judge on his request. Anyone who sent harassing or intimidating messages could also be held personally liable. Potential threats to federal officials are typically taken VERY seriously. So it’s a clear case of “Dumb and Dumber.”
