Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot

Al Franken said it back in the 90’s, and it’s just as true today, w/respect to his comments on Michelle Obama:

LIMBAUGH: I’m sure you’re aware that nutritionist-at-large Michelle Obama is urging, demanding, advocating, requiring what everybody can and can’t eat. She is demanding that everybody basically eat cardboard and tofu. No calories, no fat, no nothing — gotta stop obesity. Except as in the case of all leftists, that’s true for you, but not for them.

Michelle My Belle, minus the husband, took the kids out to Vail on a ski vacation, and they were spotted eating and they were feasting on ribs, ribs that were 1,575 calories per serving with 141 grams of fat per serving.

…What is it – no, I’m trying to say that our First Lady does not project the image of women that you might see on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, or of a woman Alex Rodriguez might date every six months or what have you. I mean, women are under constant pressure to look lithe, and Michelle My Belle is out there saying if you eat the roots and tree bark and the berries and all this cardboard stuff you will live longer, be healthier and you won’t be obese. Okay, fine, show us.

Note to Mount Rushbo:

  1. Healthy eating is NOT the equivalent of eating roots, berries, bark, tofu or cardboard.
  2. Michelle Obama isn’t requiring anyone to do anything. She can’t. All she has is a podium – and she’s been using it quite sensibly.
  3. There is nothing wrong with the occasional splurge – particularly on vacation. Mrs. Obama has never suggested otherwise.
  4. Mrs. Obama maintains a healthy weight and is quite fit.  It’s asinine to suggest that she – or any other woman – doesn’t have the right to speak out about health and fitness unless she’s fashion model svelte or dating Alex Rodriguez.

Beyond that, I’m appalled by the flagrant disrespect: Mrs. Obama is the first lady, not “Michelle My Belle.”

This isn’t Rush’s theme song – but it ought to be:

  1. IMHO Rush Limbaugh is an idiot. I don’t particularly care for most of his views on the world in general. In this particular case he is way off base.

Yes, she is our first lady, and should be given more respect. Also she is trying to do some good here. Obesity is a problem that needs to be addresed. If she uses her position to do that, I’m all for it.

I don’t care what Mrs. Obama and her children ate while on “vacation”. After all I to splurge on vacation at times. I see nothing wrong with that.

    • LOL – well, he’s not exactly one of my favorite people either. But the bile he’s spewing about Mrs. Obama and her work is incomprehensible (in addition to being loathsome). He’s not just attacking her, he’s attacking the notion of healthy eating and exercise: which is just insane in a country where diabetes rates are skyrocketing.

  2. I listened to Rush’s show from it’s inception. I used to find it entertaining. His satire early on was creative & very funny. THEN he lost his mind & became full of himself! The fame & his success severely altered his show presentation. His show is now mindless hatred and negativity! The information he speaks is full of half-truths and out right lies, as explains in the prior reply. I agree completely with Elizza’s point of view. Unfortunately, Rush’s audience is oblivios to the truth and not motivated to think for them selves or to challenge what they hear on Rush’s show by doing their own research. Look up folks and think! I voted for President Obama and generally continue to support him. BUT I don’t do so blindly! I don’t consider his words Gospel Truth. He’s just a man! I review and consider the validity of everything I hear from all sources. I encourage the public to do the same. I also suggest that we all pray for President Obama’s wisdom and success since it impacts on the destiny of America, at least till the next election. Deal with reality. If you don’t like what President Obama is doing, vote for someone else in 2012!

  3. I lived in Sacramento when Rush was hosting his show at KFBK. I can recall seeing city buses with ads on the side for the show: the ads consisted of a close-up of Rush’s mouth, which covered the entire side of the bus. As I recall, the caption read: “Rush Limbaugh’s Mouth (actual size).”

    So true.

    • LOL – I saw this… Colbert skewered “talk radio’s number one man-dumpling” perfectly.
