CDC Report: 16% of Kids’ Daily Diet Consists of Added Sugars

The title pretty much speaks for itself. Boys consumed an average of 362 calories/day from added sugars; girls consumed 282 calories.

The report is here. CNN’s synopsis is here.

FWIW, I imagine the numbers for total sugar in the diet could even be higher than this – the CDC report is concerned only with added sugars, and does not include naturally-occurring sugars (such as the sugars in milk and fruit). Even one glass of “no sugar added” fruit juice/day could add a substantial number of sugar calories to the above numbers.
