I’m Ashamed For Jillian Michaels

As well as ANYONE who watches her show or buys her products. She may not be the worst person in the world, but after watching this, there’s a place for her on my list.

The woman in the video almost appears to be a victim of Stockholm Syndrome.

This is NOT entertainment – nor is it necessary to help people lose fat or get into shape. There is absolutely NO excuse for treating anyone like this – ever. Michaels is a disgrace to fitness professionals everywhere.

    • It’s hard to NOT be rendered speechless by that clip, tbh. Michaels confirms every worst stereotype about exercise – and to the millions of people who need it the most, no less. It’s awful, painful, grueling stuff, that you have to suffer through and push yourself to succeed at… and if you can’t, you’re a worthless sack of s**t, who lacks willpower and – as such – is worthy of abuse and villification. WTF???

I am disgusted with Michaels, personally – as it’s obvious that she’ll do everything and anything to stay at the top. Ethics and respect? Screw ’em – they get in the way of being outrageous… there’s NO money in treating others with dignity and respect.

And – I am disgusted with the people who watch spectacles like this for “entertainment.” Michaels deserves to be shunned, not rewarded. The ends do NOT justify the means, particularly since the ends can be accomplished in ways that don’t involve deliberately humiliating people.

That’s why I titled this post “I am ashamed FOR [not “of”] Jillian Michaels” – as it’s painfully obvious she’s incapable of feeling any shame herself.

  2. I also have problems with this idea that it’s always about pushing your limits beyond what you reasonably think they are. Okay, I know some people find it inspiring. But there is a such a thing as injury and over-training especially if, as a viewer, you think you can do the same thing without a trainer.

  3. That is disgusting and disturbing. If she thinks she is “helping” people, she is sadly mistaken and a fool!

  4. Michaels is doing the classic “giving the people what they want.” They want to see fat people “suffer” for their so-called sins. It’s not enough for the viewing public to see someone lose weight and be healthy. The “fatty” (the latest insulting word used against fat people) has to don sackcloth and ashes and do weeping, wailing, puking penance to satisfy the viewers’ smug self-righteousness and sense of superiority.
