You Need to Eat Enough Food!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I moderate two private fitness forums: &#8220;Fat Loss Revealed&#8221; and &#8220;Bodybuilding Revealed.&#8221;\u00a0 These names are pretty self-explanatory&#8230;the first forum is dedicated to fat loss, while the second is concerned with building muscle.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Not surprisingly, the majority of the members on the &#8220;Bodybuilding Revealed&#8221; forum are male.\u00a0 Nonetheless, we have female members too &#8211; which is a great thing, in my view&#8230;I wish there were more.\u00a0 However, one thing that I find odd &#8211; and\u00a0kinda scary, to be honest &#8211; is the number of\u00a0female\u00a0members who\u00a0are\u00a0shocked when they learn\u00a0they need to eat more than 1500 &#8211; 1600 calories\/day to add muscle.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve fielded\u00a0queries from women who&#8217;ve used the &#8220;Calorie Planner&#8221; on the site,\u00a0who are dumbfounded\u00a0by numbers\u00a0as low as\u00a01900 &#8211; 2000 calories.\u00a0 They&#8217;re afraid they&#8217;re going to get fat on that &#8211; I kid you not.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->These posts make me wanna bang my head on my keyboard.\u00a0 From my perspective, those numbers are barely\u00a0enough to maintain my lean weight, let alone add to\u00a0it.\u00a0 To add mass, I&#8217;ve gone on gaining cycles where I had to eat up to 3000 calories\/day!!!\u00a0 And I&#8217;m not particularly young, large, or active outside of my workouts, either.\u00a0 But that was what I needed to eat, in order to a) fuel my workouts; b) facilitate my in-between workout recovery; and c) have enough left over for the creation of new muscle tissue.<\/p>\n<p>Now the actual number of calories it takes to gain muscle will naturally\u00a0vary between individuals, but my experience highlights a crucial fact: you can&#8217;t make something out of nothing.\u00a0 It takes more than just moving weights around to build muscle.\u00a0 Weight lifting provides the stimulus for muscle growth: but it&#8217;s your food intake that\u00a0will determine how well your body responds.\u00a0 All the &#8220;building materials&#8221; &#8211; including sufficient energy (i.e., calories) have to be there, or it&#8217;s a no-go.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fat loss is a critical part of any program designed to get you &#8220;lean and mean&#8221; &#8211; but you can&#8217;t live in perpetual fat loss mode, and expect to\u00a0develop a hard body.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I moderate two private fitness forums: &#8220;Fat Loss Revealed&#8221; and &#8220;Bodybuilding Revealed.&#8221;\u00a0 These names are pretty self-explanatory&#8230;the first forum is dedicated to fat loss, while the second is [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,26],"tags":[1847,279,642,1800],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/98"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=98"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/98\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=98"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=98"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=98"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
