Test: Day 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s the\u00a0first day\u00a0of John&#8217;s IsaTest trial (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/the-test-test-day-0\/\">read the backstory here<\/a>).\u00a0 He had his blood drawn yesterday morning, although it will take about 10 days to get the test results.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll post the numbers\u00a0as soon as we receive them.<\/p>\n<p>We did a body comp test on him this morning, using the\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.exrx.net\/Testing\/BodyCompSites.html\" rel=\"noopener\">skinfold guidelines<\/a>\u00a0and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.exrx.net\/Calculators\/BodyComp.html\" rel=\"noopener\">calculator<\/a> on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.exrx.net\/\" rel=\"noopener\">exrx.net<\/a>.\u00a0 His weight and body composition have both been pretty steady: last month, he was 216 lbs. x ~17.5% body fat.\u00a0 Today he was 214 lbs. x ~17.8% body fat.\u00a0 This is actually pretty good, under the circumstances.\u00a0 We\u00a0moved from Ohio to Washington (state) in February, and the preparations started weeks earlier&#8230;so our lives were in a state of near-total disruption from Jan. &#8211; Mar.\u00a0 During this period, we ate\u00a0out <strong>a lot<\/strong> and\u00a0missed some\u00a0workouts &#8211; but he got through it all without gaining any weight or fat.\u00a0 Of course, it probably helped to have me sitting right there in the restaurants, as no one in his right mind would order a platter of baby back ribs, french fries and cheesecake right in front of me, but still&#8230;credit where credit is due.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Here&#8217;s what we&#8217;re looking for over the next two months:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>modest changes in body composition &#8211; primarily fat loss.\u00a0 I&#8217;d like to see him drop under 210 lbs. x 15% body fat.<\/li>\n<li>strength increase &#8211; his progress has been uneven: decent for lower body, but upper body\u00a0strength has been stagnant.<\/li>\n<li>increase in either total or free testosterone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>As far as #1 goes, he&#8217;s not going on a strict diet &#8211; I don&#8217;t want him cutting calories to the point where it might\u00a0negate a T increase.\u00a0 We&#8217;re shooting for\u00a0a clean\u00a02300 &#8211; 2500 calories.\u00a0 He&#8217;s an office worker, and pretty sedentary outside of workouts, so this should be a good level for him&#8230;between a strict fat loss level and maintenance.\u00a0 He&#8217;ll be keeping careful records using the diet planning software available on the forums I moderate.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll post a weekly summary of his average daily cals, and protein, fat, and carb intake.<\/p>\n<p>For #2: he&#8217;ll be doing a workout plan devised by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.brinkzone.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Will Brink<\/a> &#8211;
