Sibutramine, a prescription weight loss drug, was withdrawn from the U.S. market in 2010, after it was found to increase heart attack\/stroke risk.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fda.gov\/NewsEvents\/Newsroom\/PressAnnouncements\/ucm339887.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The FDA&#8217;s press release<\/a> lists the following products:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SlimXtreme<\/li>\n<li>SlimXtreme Gold<\/li>\n<li>SlimPlus<\/li>\n<li>SlimLee<\/li>\n<li>GelSlim<\/li>\n<li>SlimDrops<\/li>\n<li>Colonew<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nutraingredients-usa.com\/Regulation\/FDA-seizes-supplements-over-sibutramine-tainting-disease-claims\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In its report on the product seizure<\/a>, Nutraingredients USA noted that the company president, Eran Hamami and his &#8220;sometime business partner,&#8221; Alexander Treynker, have a history of legal\/regulatory problems. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fda.gov\/ICECI\/EnforcementActions\/WarningLetters\/2012\/ucm294475.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A warning letter was issued to the former in Feb. 2012<\/a>, over the presence of both sildenafil (the active ingredient in Viagra) and sibutramine in some of his company&#8217;s products. The FDA also found GMP violations during recent inspections.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Hamami and Treynker are facing a class action lawsuit filed in 2011 by Catherine Hyde. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.courthousenews.com\/2011\/07\/29\/38557.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In this Courthouse News Service summary<\/a>, Ms. Hyde claimed she suffered adverse effects after taking SlimXtreme &#8220;intentionally spiked with sibutramine&#8221; (the Broward County Clerk of the Court site lists the case status as &#8220;pending&#8221; &#8211; the wheels of justice grind slowly, indeed).<\/p>\n<p>Nice guys, eh?
