Well, it’s been a few months since UltimateFatBurner.com’s blog has been updated, and since that is unusual for us, we thought we’d let you know what we have been up to lately, so you don’t think we’ve fallen off the face of the earth. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
Here goes…<\/p>\n
Back in the early summer, we started working on the development of a new tool that would allow us to us to deliver very simple product reviews: a numerical score and a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” recommendation for the product in question.<\/p>\n
Based on a pretty intense number of variables and an equally rigorous scoring \/ weighting \/ ranking system, this new service will allow you to get a reasonably accurate assessment of any product without having to invest in reading a complete review – something many of our visitors have indicated would be of great value to them.<\/p>\n
Anyhow, during the course of the development of the tool, it became apparent that we could no longer gloss over some of the technical issues that exist with UltimateFatBurner.com – a web site that is nearly 14 years old, and built on two platforms; WordPress and several different HTML templates.<\/p>\n
We also recognize the growing popularity of mobile browsing, and the fact that we need to be able to deliver a consistent and seamless mobile version of the site as well means we needed a single platform for the entire site.<\/p>\n
So we sucked it up and decided to make the hard decision we should have made ages ago; we have to move the entire site to a Content Management System. Don’t worry if you don’t know what this is; essentially the end result will be a better surfing experience for you, increased visitor interaction, and increased flexibility for us.<\/p>\n
So for the last 4 months Elissa has been tireless working on this (yes, she’s also a pretty darn good web developer as well as being a food scientist). Of course, since many reviews are years old, we decided we should update them at the same time. When you consider how many reviews we have, you get a pretty good idea of why things have been quiet on the blog recently.<\/p>\n
I have set a deadline for December 1st 2012 as a deadline for the migration of the data. That gives us the full month of December to work on implementing the new site live, so by the time January 1 rolls around, the new UltimateFatBurner.com will be live and rocking.<\/p>\n
Next, we’ll be implementing a mobile version of the site and then…<\/p>\n
Back to the project we start this summer.<\/p>\n
