The holidays are fast approaching, which means it’s time to plan menus. Here at Chez Lowe, that means\u00a0thinking outside the box.\u00a0We\u00a0stopped eating traditional\u00a0Thanksgiving\/Xmas\u00a0dinners several years ago, in favor of more exotic, experimental feasts.*<\/p>\n

But this<\/em> is waaaaay too experimental for me…<\/a><\/p>\n

There is an infinite number of recipes and iterations for turkey and stuffing. We can appreciate a new twist on a classic, but the recipe for “Twinkling Turkey” from the Twinkies Cookbook<\/a><\/em> has us a bit wary.<\/p>\n

In the recipe below, the cake part of the Twinkie is used as a stuffing ingredient while the cream filling becomes a sauce for turkey. For the stuffing, Twinkies and a Hostess corn muffin mix are combined with diced apple and stuffed into the bird. For the sauce, the cream filling is combined with honey and brushed on the turkey during the last fifteen minutes of roasting. Sure, it’s a creative use of a Twinkie, but creativity doesn’t always translate into tastiness.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yeah, I’m “a bit wary” of that recipe too! If\u00a0you really want to see it, click the\u00a0top link to visit the Huffington Post… or worse,\u00a0check out\u00a0the Twinkies Cookbook on Amazon.com (yes, it’s a real-life book from Hostess). But seriously: how desperate for novelty do you have to be to use Hostess Twinkies on\/in your Thanksgiving turkey? Ewwww…<\/p>\n
