From where I sit, nutrition and exercise are lifestyle issues &#8211; I couldn&#8217;t care less about being fashion-model thin.\u00a0 IMHO, the relentless promotion of unrealistically\u00a0skinny (mostly female) bodies\u00a0is both physically and psychologically harmful.<\/p>\n<p>At any rate, I ran across this personal account on another blog, and thought it would be good to share, as it highlights just how twisted our veneration of thinness can be. It&#8217;s called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/willnotdiet.blogspot.com\/2011\/04\/al.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Grass is Not Always Greener<\/a>&#8221; by Amber Leab.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>People have often told me\u2014throughout a lifetime of being underweight\u2014how great I look.<\/p>\n<p>I confidently wear a bikini.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m one of those people you might love to hate: I can eat anything, and as much of it as I want, without gaining weight.<\/p>\n<p>People, especially girls and women, praise my thinness, exclaiming \u201cHow do you stay so skinny?!\u201d or \u201cYou\u2019re so lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other people envy me\u2014a person whose thinness is due to cystic fibrosis, who has had regular, extended hospital stays since childhood, and whose daily medical regimen no one would ever envy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s not overlong &#8211; it&#8217;s worth reading the whole thing.<\/p>\n<p>(h\/t <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shakesville.com\/2011\/04\/culture-of-greener-grass.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shakesville<\/a>)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although this site is focused primarily on weight loss, my\u00a0priority is to help\u00a0people achieve a healthy, active weight.
