Better Be Fit!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thechart.blogs.cnn.com\/2010\/09\/10\/work-long-hours-stay-in-shape-to-lower-risk-of-heart-disease\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This article in CNN<\/a> caught my eye&#8230; primarily because I&#8217;ve been glued to my computer for mega-hours\u00a0over the\u00a0last few weeks, furiously working on a new project.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Work long hours? Stay in shape to lower risk of heart disease<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Working long hours increases the risk of dying from heart disease but staying in shape can eliminate that risk, according to a new study.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Those working more than 45 hours a week had two times the risk of cardiovascular mortality compared to those working normal hours, less than 40 hours per week,&#8221; said lead study author Andreas Holtermann.\u00a0 If you are in good shape and you work out, than working long hours does not change your risk level, he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Working additional hours stresses the cardiovascular system and boosts the nervous system causing your heart rate and blood pressure to elevate, according to the study.\u00a0 But if you&#8217;re fit, your body recovers faster and the physiological stress from working those long days is reduced, the research showed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The study is here.\u00a0 Sure, the subjects were white men, but it still provides me with some encouragement&#8230; no matter how\u00a0much my work\u00a0pulls me in, I still make <em>some<\/em> time to get\u00a0my workouts in.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not what I&#8217;d consider ideal &#8211; I hit the gym at random times and\u00a0have a tougher time sticking\u00a0with a progressive training program &#8211; but I still get &#8216;er done.\u00a0 Hopefully, it counts for something. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article in CNN caught my eye&#8230; primarily because I&#8217;ve been glued to my computer for mega-hours\u00a0over the\u00a0last few weeks, furiously working on a new project.
