{"id":3612,"date":"2010-06-21T04:30:28","date_gmt":"2010-06-21T02:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.ultimatefatburner.com\/?p=3612"},"modified":"2015-02-15T09:25:00","modified_gmt":"2015-02-15T14:25:00","slug":"schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/schools\/","title":{"rendered":"School&#8217;s Out!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So we&#8217;re trying a little experiment this summer&#8230;\u00a0John and I\u00a0decided\u00a0to take\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/teach-child-food\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jamie Oliver&#8217;s advice to heart<\/a>, and\u00a0make\u00a0sure\u00a0our kids\u00a0have their cooking skills nailed down.\u00a0 Thus, we&#8217;ve decided to give them equal time in the kitchen!\u00a0 To wit:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Each member of the house will cook 1 full meal per week, on a day of his\/her choosing.<\/li>\n<li>It has to be a balanced, healthy meal, composed of lean protein, veggies\/fruits\/, whole grains, legumes, nuts, etc.<\/li>\n<li>It has to be cooked from scratch &#8211; no prepared convenience\u00a0foods (other than condiments).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Believe it or not &#8211;\u00a0neither of them\u00a0gave us\u00a0any\u00a0static\u00a0over this.\u00a0 Instead,\u00a0Ryan and Nick\u00a0whipped out their cookbooks (each\u00a0has\u00a0his\/her own)\u00a0and started figuring out what they&#8217;d like to make.\u00a0 John took the first &#8220;shift&#8221; tonight (grilled chicken breasts, brown rice pilaf and steamed broccoli).
