{"id":184,"date":"2008-06-26T23:15:58","date_gmt":"2008-06-26T21:15:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.ultimatefatburner.com\/wordpress\/15-cheers-for-mcdonalds\/"},"modified":"2015-02-12T21:06:27","modified_gmt":"2015-02-13T02:06:27","slug":"15-cheers-for-mcdonalds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/15-cheers-for-mcdonalds\/","title":{"rendered":"1.5 Cheers for McDonald&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chris Coleson&#8217;s 80+ pound weight loss hit the news cycle recently.\u00a0 The former\u00a0276 pounder now weighs in at a relatively svelte 190 lbs. and has dropped 14\u00a0pants sizes: his waist went from 50 inches to 36 inches.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s pretty impressive, although what he did was less newsworthy <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/GMA\/Story?id=5198060&amp;page=1\" rel=\"noopener\">than how he did it<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>But rather than try conventional diets, which had failed him before, the then 276-pound Coleson opted for his own &#8220;realistic&#8221; solution in December: he&#8217;d only eat at McDonald&#8217;s. <\/em><em>After six months on his McDiet, Coleson lost 80 pounds and dropped 14 pants sizes. His waist went from 50-inches to 36. <\/em><em>&#8220;I didn&#8217;t make my goal of 185, but I&#8217;ve made some great lifestyle choices and I&#8217;ll make that goal,&#8221; the 42-year-old said on &#8220;Good Morning America today.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The dieticians have already weighed in, and in general, I agree with them:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/preventcancer.aicr.org\/site\/News2?abbr=pr_&amp;page=NewsArticle&amp;id=13618\" rel=\"noopener\">According to AICR Nutritionist Sarah Wally, RD<\/a>&#8230; \u201cMr. Coleson\u2019s weight loss was the result of extreme calorie deprivation. His reported daily intake \u2013 between 1200 and 1400 calories \u2013 was far below his body\u2019s needs. Rapid weight loss like Mr. Colson experienced is inevitable when calorie intake is cut so drastically, regardless of what \u2013 or where \u2013 you are eating. But it doesn\u2019t lead to sustainable, long-term weight loss and it can be dangerous.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><em>Mary-Jo Sawyer, a registered dietician at VCU Medical Center at Stony Point, praised Coleson&#8217;s discipline but said an average man should be eating more calories &#8212; 1,500 to 1,800 &#8212; or his metabolism could slow down.
