the reality is that it&#8217;s just &#8220;value added&#8221; sugar water.\u00a0 You get a few random vites and electrolytes for show, but that&#8217;s about it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just another &#8220;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/dysfunctional-foods\/\">dysfunctional food<\/a>&#8221; Potassium: 150mg per bottle<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now the thing to look at is the servings&#8230;there are 2.5 servings in one bottle.\u00a0\u00a0But do\u00a0you know anyone who who actually pours out exactly 8 oz. of the stuff?\u00a0 Me neither: anyone who buys a bottle small enough to hold in their hand typically drinks the whole thing.\u00a0 13 grams of sugar (fructose) doesn&#8217;t sound like so much when you&#8217;re talking about a single serving, but it&#8217;s roughly 1 tablespoon&#8230;multiply that by 2.5 and it comes to 32.5 grams&#8230;more sugar than\u00a0than <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.calorieking.com\/foods\/calories-in-chocolate-milk-chocolate-bar_f-ZmlkPTU4NDc1.html\" rel=\"noopener\">a bar of\u00a0Hershey&#8217;s Milk Chocolate<\/a>\u00a0(22 g).\u00a0 In return, you get modest amounts of\u00a05 vitamins (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nlm.nih.gov\/medlineplus\/ency\/article\/002399.htm\" rel=\"noopener\">out of a total of 13<\/a>) and about as much potassium as a\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.calorieking.com\/foods\/calories-in-fruit-vegetable-juices-orange-juice-fresh_f-ZmlkPTY3NTIy.html\" rel=\"noopener\">1\/4 cup of orange juice<\/a>\u00a0provides.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s less sugar (12 g)\u00a0and more nutrients (11 vites and minerals) in a bowl of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.generalmills.com\/error.aspx?item=%2fstream_image&amp;user=extranet%5cAnonymous&amp;site=website\" rel=\"noopener\">Frosted Rice Krispies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A30903-2004Dec28.html\" rel=\"noopener\">Liquid calories can be the ones that break a diet<\/a>.\u00a0 Although not all studies show this effect, there&#8217;s evidence to show that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/10878689?dopt=Abstract\" rel=\"noopener\">liquid carbohydrate calories are not as satiating as those from solid sources<\/a>.\u00a0 In addition, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/ajcn.nutrition.org\/content\/79\/4\/537.full\" rel=\"noopener\">excess fructose consumption is linked to the obesity epidemic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>People need to be eating &#8211; and drinking &#8211; less sugar, not more.\u00a0 Ok, the occasional sugared drink won&#8217;t make you fat, assuming you&#8217;re not consuming too many calories in general, but the temptation to assume a drink like &#8220;Vitamin Water&#8221; is low in calories (as implied by the small serving size), and rich in essential nutrients: the very definition of something that&#8217;s &#8220;healthy.&#8221;\u00a0 NOT:\u00a0Vitamin Water is strictly\u00a0a gimmick &#8211;
