I just got confirmation and login info for the &#8220;webinar&#8221; I&#8217;ll be &#8220;attending&#8221; on May 6: &#8220;Future Applications of Nanotechnology in Food and Consumer Products: Are Novel Safety Studies Necessary?&#8221;\u00a0 It&#8217;s being given by Dr. George Burdock and Dr. Ray Matulka of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.burdockgroup.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Burdock Group<\/a>&#8230;looks pretty interesting.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Why nanotechnology?\u00a0 I have good ol&#8217; Muscletech to thank for that one.\u00a0 When I was doing my review on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/bodybuilding\/cell-tech-hardcore.html\">Cell-Tech Hardcore<\/a>, I came up against their claim of using &#8220;Nanomolecular Hyperdispersion Technology&#8221; for improving the absorption of their creatine &#8211; or rather, a &#8220;precise portion of the creatine&#8221; (meaning, &#8220;not all of it&#8221;).\u00a0 Of course, this was just a marketing term, as it was clear that the actual process\u00a0involved was\u00a0simply a very fine micronization.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For the record, a\u00a0micron is one-millionth of a meter, which\u00a0&#8211; while quite small &#8211; is still a thousand times larger than a nanometer.<\/p>\n<p>So what&#8217;s in a name?\u00a0\u00a0The potential for a lot of consumer confusion, unfortunately.\u00a0 This sort of &#8220;terminology abuse&#8221; is evident in some of their other supps too: like NaNO Vapor, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/bodybuilding\/muscle-tech-nitro-tech-hardcore.html\">Nitro-Tech Hardcore<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t mean to pick on Muscletech per se&#8230;It&#8217;s a catchy, high-tech sounding term that everyone&#8217;s heard of\u00a0 &#8211; so the &#8220;kewl&#8221; factor is pretty high.\u00a0 And &#8211; since it&#8217;s the wave of the future &#8211; why not ride on it now?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So\u00a0I figured I should\u00a0learn something about it &#8211;
