{"id":113,"date":"2008-04-22T04:37:32","date_gmt":"2008-04-22T02:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.ultimatefatburner.com\/wordpress\/recipe-of-the-week-asian-tuna-salad\/"},"modified":"2008-04-22T04:37:32","modified_gmt":"2008-04-22T02:37:32","slug":"recipe-of-the-week-asian-tuna-salad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/recipe-of-the-week-asian-tuna-salad\/","title":{"rendered":"Recipe of the Week: Asian Tuna Salad."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Why are so many people&#8217;s &#8220;healthy&#8221; diets, so gosh-darned dull?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s one of those unfathomable laws of the universe, it seems.\u00a0 Every time I review a diet, it&#8217;s always the same: plain baked chicken\/fish or dry canned-in-water tuna, plain steamed or raw vegetables, plain gummy oatmeal, maybe a piece of fruit or a protein shake.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Zzzzzzzz&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Yeah, they&#8217;re healthy foods and all, but soooooo boooooorrrrrring!!!\u00a0 It&#8217;s no wonder people crack under the strain&#8230;even if their bodies are doing ok, their taste buds are starving!<\/p>\n<p>Now don&#8217;t get me wrong: a dull diet can certainly be nutritious and effective&#8230;but there&#8217;s no virtue in suffering.\u00a0 Fitness is a great lifestyle, and it should be ENJOYED.\u00a0 I&#8217;m a committed hedonist, and a firm believer in &#8220;Eat, Drink and be Merry.&#8221; No one should have\u00a0to live like a monk\u00a0in order to get\u00a0&#8211; and stay &#8211; lean.<\/p>\n<p>So in addition to some of the other &#8220;features&#8221; I&#8217;ll be blogging about, I&#8217;ll be posting tasty, healthy recipes to try: some of my favorites, as well as new ones I&#8217;ll be trying out.<\/p>\n<p>To start: here&#8217;s my recipe for\u00a0an Asian-inspired\u00a0tuna salad\u00a0&#8211; which was a hit on the &#8220;Fat Loss Revealed&#8221; site.\u00a0 It makes a great filling for lettuce wraps.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1 12 oz. can of water-packed tuna &#8211; drained<br \/>\n3 green onions, minced<br \/>\n1 large or 2 small celery ribs, diced<br \/>\n5 water chestnuts, diced<br \/>\n1 ounce whole, raw almonds (approx 24)<br \/>\n1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil<br \/>\n2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar<br \/>\n2 tablespoons soy sauce<br \/>\n5 drops of sesame oil<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon sugar<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Put almonds in a dry skillet and toast over low heat\u00a0until lightly browned and fragrant.\u00a0 Coarsely chop and set aside.<\/p>\n<p>Empty the drained tuna into a bowl and flake with a fork.\u00a0 Drizzle with olive oil and mix to distribute the oil evenly.\u00a0 Then add the soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil and sugar.\u00a0 Finally, add the almonds, along with the\u00a0diced celery, onions and water chestnuts.\u00a0 Toss to blend the ingredients together.<\/p>\n<p>Serves 3: 240 calories per serving.<\/p>\n<p>Bon Apetit!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why are so many people&#8217;s &#8220;healthy&#8221; diets, so gosh-darned dull?\u00a0 It&#8217;s one of those unfathomable laws of the universe, it seems.\u00a0 Every time I review a diet, it&#8217;s [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[9,25],"tags":[559,642,1854,1864,1690,1867],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/113"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=113"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/113\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=113"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=113"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/ufb-blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=113"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
