The bench we typically use is close to a &#8220;traffic lane&#8221; &#8211; and I figured it&#8217;d be distracting to try and bench with a lot of people walking back and forth.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Pity though &#8211; as it turned out, it probably would have been better if we&#8217;d done it yesterday.  We went out to dinner last night to celebrate Number One Son&#8217;s birthday (his 19th was on Thursday), and evidently something I ate didn&#8217;t quite agree with me.  I didn&#8217;t feel overtly sick this morning, but I wasn&#8217;t 100% either&#8230;I had a mild case of indigestion and felt a little unsteady.  Breakfast just seemed to sit in my stomach, and I felt bloated and uncomfortable. <\/p>\n<p>As a consequence, I didn&#8217;t eat as much as I ordinarily would have today.  I briefly considered cancelling the workout, but figured I&#8217;d go and see how I felt after my warm up sets. If nothing else &#8211; I could still spot for John if I decided I wasn&#8217;t up to the task.<\/p>\n<p>And I did feel shaky warming up, but my strength was ok&#8230;so I took a shot at it, since I&#8217;m going to miss next week&#8217;s workout (I&#8217;ll be in Columbus, Ohio for the Arnold Classic).<\/p>\n<p>Today was my first crack at 140 pounds, and &#8211; all things considered &#8211; it didn&#8217;t go too badly.  My sets went: 4\/5, 3\/5, 3\/5, 3\/5, 3\/5.  <\/p>\n<p>I did forced reps and negatives to finish each set.  I even felt better &#8211; even hungry &#8211; by the time we finished, so that was a plus.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, the coming rest will do me some good&#8230;140 pounds is my goal weight, after all.  But I need to be able to lift that for 6 reps &#8211; not 4, so I&#8217;ve still got plenty of work to do on this.<\/p>\n<p>When I think I&#8217;ve got it, I&#8217;m gonna bring the video camera and tripod to film it, so I can post it here &#8211; lol.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Normally we do this on Saturday, but there was a powerlifting tournament at the gym yesterday.
