{"id":271,"date":"2009-03-30T06:59:34","date_gmt":"2009-03-30T13:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/glossary.ultimatefatburner.com\/?p=271"},"modified":"2015-02-14T17:17:44","modified_gmt":"2015-02-14T22:17:44","slug":"daidzein","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/glossary\/daidzein\/","title":{"rendered":"Daidzein"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ultimatefatburner.com\/glossary\/isoflavones\/\" target=\"_blank\">isoflavone<\/a> found in a number of plants, although soy is the primary food source.\u00a0 Daidzein is a phytoestrogen, and exerts <a href=\"http:\/\/toxsci.oxfordjournals.org\/content\/62\/2\/205.full?ck=nck\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weak estrogenic effects in animal studies<\/a>.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/ebm.sagepub.com\/content\/230\/3\/155.full\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Intestinal bacteria play an important\u00a0role in daidzein metabolism<\/a>, which metabolize it to equol and\/or <em>O<\/em>-desmethylangolensin &#8211; which are more biologically active than the parent compound.\u00a0 Equol is thought to have protective effects against both breast and prostate cancers, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/17274967\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as well as cardiovascular disease<\/a>.
