Designer
Whey Protein Powder by Next Nutrition!
Designer
whey protein powder and meal
replacements (like EAS' Myoplex Plus) are my two favorite
sources of protein supplements (to read how increasing your
protein content can help shed unwanted pounds, click
here!). Together they make it easy to attain a daily protein
intake of 200+ grams which is spread over the course of 6-8
small meals each and every day. Unlike meal replacements, which
are designed to replace an entire meal (duh!), protein powders
like designer whey protein powder contain fewer calories, almost
no carbohydrates or fats, and a minimal amount of sweeteners.
Although
quite palatable when mixed straight-up with low fat milk, Designer
whey protein can't compete with most meal replacements for taste.
That's OK -- it's not supposed to! Where this protein really
comes into its own is upping the protein content of your meals
and recipes. For example, a scoop or two into your morning oatmeal
or high-fiber cereal turns breakfast from a high-carb affair
into a nicely balanced protein/carbohydrate affair.
Designer
whey protein powder is also very handy for increasing the protein
content of your favorite recipes -- muffins and pancakes are
but two a zillion possible uses. Because of it's low carbohydrate
content, it also makes a great, light shake (mixed with low-fat
milk or water), if you need to subdue the hunger pangs later
in the evening.
Personally,
one of my favorite things about Next Nutrition's product is
the fact that it mixes SO easily. I don't know how many protein
products I've bought that claimed "easy mixing" but
were impossible to get to a decent consistency without the aid
of a blender. Designer whey protein is without a doubt the best
and easiest mixing protein powder I've ever used. A shaker cup
is all you need to convert a couple of scoops into a creamy
"lump-free" consistency. And of course, it's exclusively
whey protein, without a doubt the highest quality protein on
the market today.
And
taste?
Well,
I use the strawberry and chocolate flavors exclusively. The
first time I used Designer whey protein powder (a couple of
years ago), I detected a slightly bitter aftertaste, although
it didn't bother me. Now either they've improved the taste over
the last two years (very possible), or I just don't notice it
any more. Regardless, this protein really should be used in
conjunction with other foods to increase the protein content
of your meals. If you're looking to replace an entire meal,
or if taste is off extreme importance to you, you'll likely
be more interested in a meal
replacement powder.
Otherwise,
designer whey protein powder is definitely a supplement worthy
of your consideration.
