1) New HTML-Formatted Newsletter!

Ultimatefatburner's Fat-Bustin' e-Zine has received a complete face lift... as I'm sure you've noticed! I have to tell you... I'm pretty excited about our brand new look!

The change was spurred on by a couple of things...

First, as I was going through Ultimatefaturner's back issues, I realized that some of the longer issues were a bit tedious to read in the plain text version. This new HTML-formatted newsletter is cleaner, clearer, more attractive, and a heck of a lot easier to get through.

That's a big plus.

Second, I needed a powerful, flexible tool to deliver a customized HTML formatted email at a relatively low-cost. I found that tool in a service called ProAutoresponder. Without a doubt, it's one of the most feature rich, comprehensive and downright cheap email services I've ever encountered. If you publish an online e-zine or newsletter, you owe it to yourself to have a look.

One last thing before we get down to business... I've tested this service on several different platforms and all seemed to work well (it also sends out a text version if your browser doesn't "read" HTML). If *YOU* have problems reading/viewing this email, or any of its internal links, please, please, please use the contact link at the end of this email and let me know what service you are using, what email program, what version, and so on.

1) Olive Oil: Cheap, Tasty, and a Great Fat Burner!

Olive oil is a great source of unrefined, monounsaturated fat. It's used extensively in the Mediterranean where the general good health of the population has provided the impetus for popular books such as "The Mediterranean Diet", by Marissa Cloutier and Eve Adamson, "The Omega Diet" by Artemis P. Simopoulos and Jo Robinson and "Olive Oil Cookery: The Mediterranean Diet" by Maher A. Abbas, to name but a few.

Many experts attribute a large part of the success of the Mediterranean diet directly to its high olive oil content. A most recent study performed on rats shows that olive oil can increase the activity of certain chemicals called "uncoupling proteins". These chemicals effectively "tell" the body to burn excess calories (through the release of heat), rather than store it.

(Source: American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 75:213-220, 2002). (This by the way, is only one of the many studies demonstrating olive oil's benefits -- its been shown to help promote healthy blood lipid levels, promote healthy (HDL) cholesterol, enhance fat burning as well as possessing anti-inflammatory characteristics! Wow!).

All complicated science aside, let me tell you this...

I've supplemented with Udo's Ultimate Oil and flax seed oil for several years now, and although I've been cooking with olive oil since I did some research on store brand vegetable oils and trans fatty acids, I've never made a conscious effort to get a significant amount of it into my diet...

Until this summer.

For the last 10 weeks or so, I've been getting 2-1/2 tablespoons of olive oil into my diet daily. Although I prefer to take flax seed and Udo's Ultimate Oil directly, olive oil has a much more distinct flavor (extra virgin is the mildest of the olive oils) which makes it more suitable for use on salads and so on.

I've been mixing olive oil and balsamic (red wine) vinegar in a 1:1 ratio (2 tablespoons olive oil and two tablespoons balsamic vinegar), and mixing it over a salad of mixed veggies and 1 4-ounce chicken breast for the last couple of months.

And the results?

My Accumeasure Fat Track II bodyfat caliper reports bodyfat levels have now crossed into the single digit category (if you don't have one of these bodyfat calipers, I recommend you pick one up!).

And while olive oil has only played one part of my entire fat-blastin' strategy this summer, I can guarantee it has DEFINITELY contributed to a couple of the belt-tightenings I've enjoyed lately.

This stuff works! I recommend you start supplementing today!

2) A Winner! Will Brink's Diet Supplements Revealed!

Last issue I told you that I'd just received and done a preliminary review of Will Brink's Diet Supplements Revealed. Since that time, I've had a chance to spend some good solid hours with Will's publication, and let me tell you, it's an impressive one indeed!

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to cut through the marketing hype and get right to the bottom line on supplements... which ones REALLY work, and which ones don't.
