A Brand New Year Brings Brand New Resolutions!

Well... looks like we made it safely to another year! I
hope you, your family, and your loved ones enjoyed a safe
and wonderful holiday season. All I know is...

It was far, far too short! :-)

For most of us, the beginning of the New Year is the perfect
time to reflect on the successes and failures of the past 12
months. It's also the perfect time for soul-searching, and
the establishing of new goals.

Unfortunately, we're usually back to our old ways by
February or so -- our resolutions all but forgotten.
According to this Mayo Clinic article...

AOL users,

... A large part of the problem is a direct result of
people setting unreasonable goals for themselves. By setting
the "bar too high" (so to speak), we're setting ourselves up
for almost certain failure. Failure, as we all know, is not
exactly motivational.

With that said, I've put together an article addressing this
issue (and providing a series of solutions) on the
Ultimatefatburner site. To read the full article, visit...

"All Natural" Is ALL About Perception!

I got a great email from a subscriber/visitor the other day
that reminded me of the importance of this issue.

No matter who you happen to be marketing to, the term "all
natural" is extremely powerful. Powerful, because it
conveys a sense of safety. Powerful, because it identifies
with our underlying fear of chemically-altered or
synthetically-produced products. Powerful, because we want
the best for ourselves and our children.

Perhaps most importantly, "all natural" is important because
most of us have a pretty ideal conception of what "all
natural" is, or should be.

But the term "all natural" is more than a little misleading.

For example...

If you were to travel through Africa, you might encounter
the fearsome Black Mamba, perhaps the most fearsome and
deadly snake in the world. Should you have unfortunate
opportunity to be bitten by the Black Mamba, you'd be dead
in minutes (without a shot of antidote). Yes, even though
the Black Mamba's poison is completely "natural".

If you were to hunt with the tribesmen of South America, you
might tip your arrows with curare, another "all natural"
deadly poison.

On a tamer note, eating the wrong mushrooms from an
expedition to the local forest could have just as
disastrous consequences.

In short, the term "all natural" is often used in a
misleading fashion to sell products that may have possible
side effects.

Getting closer to home now, fat-burners and weight loss
products are often marketed as "all natural". Often
these products contain ma huang, sida cordifolia or country
mallow -- all of which are standardized for ephedrine, a
powerful stimulant. Other innocent "natural sounding"
ingredients, like guarana or kola nut are standardized for
caffeine, another stimulant.

Ephedrine, as you may or may not know, is a powerful stimulant
that depresses appetite and burns fat. It works well, but
it is not for everybody. For those with certain medical
conditions, taking it can have dangerous consequences.

-----SIDEBAR-----
I've written an extensive series of articles
on ephedrine. If you'd like to learn more...

http://www.ultimatefatburner.com/prolinkz/pl.cgi?ephed

AOL users,

<a href="http://www.ultimatefatburner.com/prolinkz/pl.cgi?ephed">

-----SIDEBAR-----

By hiding behind the "all natural" label, and standardizing
extracts from natural sources, manufactures lull consumers
into a false sense of security. That false sense of
security means consumers don't treat these "natural"
products with the respect they deserve.

To compound things, many consumers aren't aware of what they
are really taking.

The result?

Occasional health disasters, even fatalities. Various
groups have been lobbying governments in both the U.S. and
Canada to ban ephedrine-based products. In my opinion, a
properly informed and educated public faces no danger from
ephedrine...

If you understand the dangers, you don't take the product.

-----SIDEBAR-----
In the U.S. and Canada, labelling a product
as "natural" means it can side-step many of
the regulations that govern the manufacture
and distribution of drugs and similar
products.

So it's in the best interests of the
manufacturers that they do just this!
-----SIDEBAR-----

The moral of this story is a simple one...

Don't be lulled into a false sense of security by the
"all-natural" label. If you are not sure what any product
really contains, hold off buying it until you are sure your
health is not in jeopardy!

Remember...

There are plenty of deadly, hazardous "all natural"
compounds.

Suitable Alternative To BioTest's MD6

I've received several emails from people unhappy with
Biotest's decision to make changes to the formulation of
their popular MD6 fat burner. The original formulation
contained norephedrine, now replaced by plain old ephedrine.

For those of you who were disappointed, I've hunted up a
suitable alternative -- Syntrax's Adipokinetix. Containing
25 mg of norephedrine, 3mg of Yohimbe, and 100 mg of
caffeine, Adipokentix seems like more than a suitable
alternative. I ordered mine last week. ;-)

L-Glutamine -- Worthwhile, But Misrepresented!

L-glutamine is a conditionally non-essential amino acid that
has long been a favorite supplement of body builders. But
it may have great value for dieters as well. For the full
