There's Real POWER in Staying Focused!

Up here in the northern hemisphere, summer is fading fast.
The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting
colder, and already the trees look like they're starting to
change color.

And although the closing of summer represents the end of
beaches, bar-b-ques, and so many of those favorite
lazy-hazy-days-of-summer activities, for many people, it's a
great relief. Yup, just like spring and the onset of warm
weather evokes panic (time to remove all those layers of
clothing), fall brings a sense of relief. Indeed, it's time
to cover up again!

Funny how the threat of another on-coming summer has many of
us peering critically into the mirror deciding how to best
deal with the accumulating "bulges." Unfortunately, fall
often brings the opposite reaction...

Relief, and a return to bad habits and baggy sweaters.

But successful weight loss/weight management is a year long
issue. Successful weight loss is a slow process -- perhaps
1-2 pounds a week at best. You need to remain motivated all
year round if you wish to obtain and maintain the goals
you've set for yourself (you have set goals, right? ;-).

OK... but that's easier said than done, isn't it?

Well, it can be tough... especially when you're fighting
the battle alone. So...

What can be done about it?

Good question! Here's a few suggestions...

o If you have yet to set definitive goals, take a few
minutes and do so now. Be sure to evaluate your own unique
situation, and set a goal that is realistic to YOU.

--

o Secondly, write that goal down, and put it on the fridge,
or anywhere where you're likely to come across it several
times in the course of your day. Put it in your briefcase
and take it to work if you have to. This "reinforcing" of
your goal keeps it in the forefront in your mind day in and
day out.

--

o Even the most motivated person in the world experiences
setbacks and lapses. If you have a friend who is in the same
boat as yourself, team up with them. Together, you can keep
each other motivated.

--

o Take up an enjoyable low impact, low intensity activity
like walking. With the blistering heat fading, now's the
perfect time to add a walk to your daily itinerary. Many
people are under the impression that exercise has to be
incredibly hard or intense to be effective. Not so. In
fact, walking is one of the best all-round exercises for
weight loss.

Why?

First and foremost almost everyone can do it, and enjoy it.

Secondly... because fat metabolism (the process by which the
body breaks down and processes fat for energy) is a
complicated process chemically, the body can only access fat
for fuel when caloric requirements are low. Higher intensity
exercises require caloric fuel at a rate that the body can't
provide from fat metabolism. The body must fuel these
activities with energy obtained from glucose stores,
protein, and even muscle breakdown.

So walking, because of its low intensity, is *the* perfect
exercise for weight loss!

-----SIDEBAR-----
Are higher intensity exercises useless for
fat loss then? Nope. Here's why...

High intensity exercise helps elevate the
metabolism... so more calories are burned
at rest in the period following a workout.

Unfortunately, the only way to sustain an
elevated metabolism and increased calorie
burn throughout the day is to build lean
tissue -- muscle.

And that means time spent in the gym...

With weights.
(But that's a topic for another day ;-)
-----SIDEBAR-----

o Prioritize your time. This is important. In the hustle
and bustle of the every day grind, many of us forget about,
well, uh... us.

Yes it IS important to fulfill your commitments... whether
to your boss, to your family, or to your friends. But there
has to be time left in there for YOU. YOU must become a
priority.

--

o Track your results. This too is important. Diet triumphs
are inspiring, and will spur you on to even greater success.
Without maintaining a log of your progress, it is very
difficult to know how successful your program really is.

--

o Plan (and allow) for occasional failures. Special
occasions -- Christmas, Hannuka, Ramadan, whatever holiday
you participate in... these are special times of
celebration. Eat, drink, and be merry. Enjoy your time with
friends and family. It doesn't hurt, once and awhile, to
fall off the dieting merry-go-round. Just be sure to get
back on board once the celebrations are over!

--

There you have it... 7 ways to keep yourself motivated,
weight-wise, until the next bathing suit season. And for
those of you who are just approaching bathing suit season...

Stay focused, and enjoy! ;-)

BioTest's T2 - The Next Generation of Weight Loss!

As you know, I don't recommend products until I've tried
them myself. My order of T2 is en route as we speak, so I
can't yet comment on its effectiveness. I've used BioTest's
products though, and have been impressed with both the
quality and the potency of their formulations. So it's with
great anticipation that I await their newest offering...

T2 Pro Thyroid Formula.

T2 is Biotest's safe and natural alternative to thyroid
stimulating prescription drugs. I've read a couple of
pretty rave reviews in a few of my favorite body-building
magazines. And you know bodybuilders... obsessed with
obtaining impossibly low levels of bodyfat. So I have high
hopes for this product.

You can read more about Biotest's T2 on the site...

Scam/Fraud Products

I've added this section to the site for no reason other than
to address directly the absolute boondoggles of the
diet-supplement world. Currently consisting of 3 products --
Chitosan, Cellasene, and Calorad, this section is a must
read for anyone heading out to the health food store with
wallet/purse in hand. And of course, I'll be updating this
section regularly.

Ephedrine

In order to address the growing concern over ephedrine, and
other stimulant-based weight loss supplements, I've written
a 4-part article, and uploaded it to the site. You can view
it in its entirety at...

Just choose "Ephedrine" from the "What The Heck Does This
Stuff Do?" column on the left.
